Opened on May 30, 2026, Melissa Lake Park combines a splash pad, covered playground, fishing lake, walking trails, kayak launch, pavilion rentals, and a weekly Farmer's Market into one destination.
It’s clear from the size of the parking lot that the City of Melissa knew this would be the hub of free local family fun. As you and your family enter the park, you won’t know if you should start at the sprawling covered playground or the splash pad with three water slides. Either way, the design of this newest park allows you just to have fun - your way.
And the best part? There’s a covered pavilion in the center of it all.
☀️ Cooling Off, Melissa Style
From 9am to 9pm, from May 1st until September 30, your whole family can enjoy a refreshing escape from the Texas heat. Sponsored by local H-E-B, it’s hard not to call this splash pad a water park. The centerpiece of it all is a large structure with 3 different-height waterslides, leading into a slick paved surface with the classic, always-filling water buckets found all over.
Complimented by a Melissa Water Tower, floor fountains, and an interactive water table, there's something here for toddlers, big kids, and even parents looking to cool off.

If your kiddos are on the older side, they will want to climb to the top of the huge playscape - featuring obstacle courses, monkey bars, and slides galore!

However, if you have young ones, your family will love the toddler playscape area. Complete with slides, multiple ways to challenge themselves (while staying relatively close to the ground), and a table built for little people’s pretend games, it’s perfect for the younger explorers.

If you’re more of a nature person, you’re in luck! There's a large paved stroller-friendly walking trail surrounding the park leading to Melissa Lake, where kids and families can fish - or just enjoy the Texas Plains views. The lake is stocked with catfish, bass, bluegill, and red ear sunfish. There's also a kayak launch for families looking to spend some time on the water.

The City of Melissa has chosen this park to host their city’s Farmer’s Market, so be sure to stop by on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm.

Please note that the park is still available to the public during reservations.
